So much to tell

Ok, it seems like a lot has happened since my last posting. Jon left for Singapore this morning...yes, Singapore! They are 13 hours ahead of us so he lands tomorrow night around 5 pm our time, around 6 am Sunday in Singapore. He is going for work, but it is a conference so he is sure to learn a lot. What an awesome opportunity for him, I'm sure he will take plenty of pictures so I will post them when he returns. We will miss him this week.

I return to work on Monday. This is bitter sweet for me, while I am so grateful I have had these last 12 weeks to spend every day with Sheridan I am excited to return to my job. I can't think about how much I will miss in Sheridan's life or I will go crazy. I have to keep telling myself that work will provide family vacations that she will always remember, dance lessons and someday her dream wedding. But I will miss her so much, it is hard for me to even write about it.

We had Sheridan baptized last Sunday, it was so special. For the actual ceremony she wore my mom's great aunt Marge's gown (from like 1929). After the ceremony we put on the outfit that I was baptized in. The photo of Sheridan crying below was to model after the photo of me on my baptism day - I apparently cried my entire first year of life so this day was no exception. Except for this photo, Sheridan was an angel. She was wide awake and happy during the whole ceremony, which was fun when the minister held her up for everyone to see. We selected our friends Aaron and Renee and Anne and Brian to be Sheridan's godparents. I know it is probably unusual to most to have two sets of godparents but all of these people have shared such an important part in our lives that we want them to share in Sheridan's life as well. Renee is pregnant - due in September, doesn't she look just adorable? I remember the days of pregnancy glow, when you are so excited to meet your future baby to be.

We also had family come up from Kansas City, it was fun to have them present for this day and they were able to come over and see the new house, which I've learned is going to be a work in progress for the next several years. We are doing bits and pieces here and there but painting will be the biggest task, we have painted two rooms (Sheridan's and the laundry room) only 9 more rooms to go :)

So Smiley

Sheridan is really starting to smile and talk to us. She is especially smiley in the morning when she wakes up - everyday I am reminded that I will soon be returning to work and I will miss a lot of these moments. I realize we will still have plenty of time together but it will be hard. I am excited to return to work and get back in the swing of things but I so wish there was a way to have the best of both worlds.

Sheridan is now sleeping in her own room, it turned out to be quite an easy transition (for both me and her). I added some pictures of her room below - the first room in the house we painted, of course. I think it came out so cute, it is so nice to have everything in its place. We have Sheridan's baptism tomorrow so it forced us to really put things away and it feels good to finally start to have some order in the house. Still plenty to unpack but that is my goal for next week. We haven't really done a lot of decorating yet as we are waiting for our dining room table to come in so we make decisions at that time.

Jon leaves for Singapore in one week - he will be missing his first Fathers Day :-(
It gives me more time to find the perfect gift for him though, we will celebrate when he returns. This is will be such an awesome opportunity for him.

Home Sweet Home!

We have officially been in our house for one week and one day now! It took awhile to get the internet set up and our laptop called it quit a couple of weeks ago so this is the first opportunity I have had to post an update. Things are going really well, we are almost unpacked if you can believe it. I can't believe how much stuff we have! It didn't take long to fill our new home. We bought a new dining room set yesterday, unfortunately it will not be delivered until the end of June - but I can't wait....I have been eyeing this set for years, just waiting for the day we had a dining room. We have painted Sheridan's room (the most important room) but that is probably it for awhile. I want to take my time this time around and really decide how I want to decorate, so painting will be a work in progress.

Sheridan is getting so big - we had her two month check up yesterday and she now weighs 9 lbs 13 ounces. She had to have 4 shots and one oral vaccine, although the nurse was incredibly fast mom still cried when the whole thing was over. I hate it when I know Sheridan is in pain and it is hard to explain to a two month old that this is for the best. She can hold her head up really good now...still a little wobbly but getting there and she can push herself up when we lay her on her tummy. She is talking like crazy and is smiling more and more everyday. I am trying to get a good photo of her when she is so smiley but she doesn't really like to smile for the camera. She has almost outgrown her bassinet so we will soon be moving her into her own room in her crib - a big step, which I am sure will be harder for me than it will be for her. Happy Mothers Day...to me?

On Sunday I celebrated my first Mothers Day - still so hard to believe that I am a mom. We had a good day spending time with our moms and of course, with Sheridan....she was such an angel for me all day (not that she isn't every day). She is kind of coming down with a cold and is having trouble breathing through her nose so Sunday night was a little rough with her up every 2 hours. Yesterday we bought some sinus drops and a cool mist vaporizer and last night she slept great. Below are a couple of photos from Mothers Day.

Happy Friday!

I miss saying that, since I'm not working right now every day feels like Friday. My mom, Sheridan and I went to see the house yesterday, it look awesome! They still need to paint the front door and lay sod in the backyard - along with some minor interior touch-ups, but otherwise it is pretty close to complete. May 21st came much faster than I thought it would. Here are some pictures:

I forgot to mention Jon got a promotion last week - he is now an Executive Sous Chef at ConAgra. Timing couldn't have been more perfect, with a new house and baby we can sure use the extra money - I can't believe how much money we spend on diapers! I said I would post some of the professional pictures we had taken by Janine McCclintock. We had to scan them in so they aren't the best quality, but I still think they look awesome - I can't wait to use them to decorate our house in a week and a half!

Growing so fast!

So, we went to the pediatrician for a weight check on Tuesday and Sheridan now weighs 8 lbs 3 ounces! I cannot believe it...I know that is still small to some, but that is huge to us. We tested the baby bjorn last night - we had to wait until she hit 8 pounds before we could use it. She cried at first but as soon as stepped outside she passed out immediately. I knew she would like it since that is how she generally likes to be held. We are going to try and take a trip out to the house today to take some pictures, we close in less than two weeks! The only thing left the last time we were there was window treatments, door handles, the front door and some touch-ups. We have our walk through one week from today. Sheridan is just now starting to coo, it is the cutest thing ever. She is also starting to have a "fussy" time - usually between 6:30 and 7:30 at night. It is hard when nothing seems to soothe her. But we have learned she loves fresh air and the sound of the shower so if all else fails we can step outside or run some water. Below are some pics....
