A new puppy?

So, the other night when we had that terrible ice storm Jon, Sheridan and I went down the street to Doc and Eddie's for a quick bite to eat. When we walked in we were greeted by a cute little pup. A little odd to find a dog in a restaurant but it certainly wouldn't be the first. The workers apologized and said they had found her outside in the cold (without a collar) and were trying to decide what to do with her. They were all young and most either lived in apartments or with their parents and didn't have a place to keep her. They tried the humane society but b/c of the weather they wouldn't pick her up until the next morning. When they started talking about letting her go to see if she would just go home I gave Jon the look and within a few minutes she was in our car and we were on our way to introduce her to Stallone (only for the night of course until the humane society could pick her up in the morning).

Unfortunately the pup (who we later nicknamed whiney) and the Stallone didn't exactly hit it off. We tried to give her a nice little place to hang out in the basement however she made it very clear to us that is not where she wanted to be - which is when she also received her nickname. Whiney spent the night between Jon's legs in the guestroom - while Stallone and I stayed in our room for the night. The humane society picked her up by 9:30 the next morning.

While this particular pup wasn't the right fit for us it was kind of fun to have a small dog in the house. I know, you are thinking I'm crazy right? Why add to the chaos? Which we probably won't, but it was just a thought...

Below are some pics of Sheridan too!

A Very Merry First Christmas!

What a wonderful Christmas! We had such a great time this and it was so exciting to share this first holiday with Sheridan. I thought for sure she would get completely distracted by the wrapping paper and tissue but she seemed to actually enjoy her gifts (just a few).

On another note we had Sheridan's 9 month appointment last week. She is progressing beautifully and she even waved at Dr. Dek! She weighed 16 lbs 5 oz (9%) and she is 26 3/4 in length (21%). A growing girl for sure. She has also recently learned to crawl! While she isn't moving super fast with the right motivation she is on the go. She can also pull herself up. I turn my back for a second and she has either crawled across the room or is standing up at the ottoman. Baby proofing begins!

Below are some pictures from Christmas.

Ode to Garth

Today we had to say goodbye
To our favorite pup Garthman,
He spent most of his days
Circling the treat trash can.

He's been our friend for 16 years
He danced, sang and circled too,
Snuggled under the covers
Just to say I love you.

We all will miss the little man
Grandma will miss him more,
We know he's in a better place
Eating snausages, pupperoni and treats galore!

We'll miss you old man....

Santa, a good sport

Today we took Stallone to see Santa at Petsmart, a tradition we started with him the first Christmas we had him. I decided it would be fun to have Sheridan in the picture too. Although we had good luck with the first encounter with Santa this time she was not quite as receptive. Santa was a good sport though, he bounced Sheridan on one knee while holding Stallone's leash and sharing a holiday smile. This one's going in the scrapbook!

You Amaze Me!

So the other night, around 2:30 in the morning Sheridan woke up crying. When I went in to get her I was greeted by her sitting in the crib. It was the funniest thing, I couldn't help but smile. I picked her and up and whispered "You Amaze Me!" I couldn't help but wake up Jon and tell him the news. Everyday is something new, it truly is the simple things that amaze me. Within the last couple of weeks she has really started teething, you can see two little white teeth poking their way through. I tried to snap a photo but haven't had any luck yet.

We went to visit Santa last weekend, I was sure Sheridan would scream. She didn't! No smile, but no tears either. Santa was a little creepy looking though, I think we will find a new spot next year. We still have to take Stallone to see Santa and we will probably have Sheridan sit on his lap as well so hopefully that will be a better looking Santa. Below are some recent pictures.

Only 24 days until Christmas!

I cannot believe it is December already! We went this weekend to get our Christmas tree and put up some outdoor decorations....we were like the last house on the block to decorate. I love this time of year, I love the music, the decorations, the excitement. I cannot wait to share our first Christmas with Sheridan, I'm trying really hard not to go overboard with gifts since I know that is not what it's about but it is so hard not too.

Thanksgiving was wonderful - I always love getting together with the family. I was reminded just how lucky we are to have everything that we have. I'm so thankful every day for Sheridan and Jon and even Stallone (even though I'm pretty sure he is on the naughty list this year). Life is good....below are some pictures from Thanksgiving and of our tree.
