Changes

It has been a really long time since I last blogged, I guess life has gotten busy and I just haven't made this a priority. Things have been good for the most part. The biggest changes has been saying goodbye to Baba. I have been so fortunate to have a grandma for so long and especially long enough for her to not only meet but get to know Sheridan and Waylon. I am especially happy to have captured some photos of Baba with the kids this Christmas.

My dad has taken this especially hard, I guess it would be hard for anyone to lose a parent, but i am not used to seeing my dad so depressed. This Easter will be hard and Mothers Day I imagine even harder. I hope he knows how much I am sure Baba treasured the times they had together.

We just got back today from Waylon's first "vacation" While it was a quick one (just one night in KC) it was nice to get away. We went up for Hannah's opening at a cafe in Warrensburg, it was really cool to see her work on display and to see the KC crew. The kids, for the most part, were very good. We strolled around the plaza to meet all the bunnies and went to an underwater exhibit at Crown Center (pictures below).

Waylon is cutting his 6th tooth, I can't wait to go to his 1 year appointment to find out how much the big boy weighs. Sheridan's hair is getting so long and she is looking more grown up to me every day. Life is good.

Ahhh...nice and quiet

I have to admit I am quite proud of myself when I caan get both kids to nap at the same time. Doesn't happen very often but it is nice to have an hour (sometimes two if I am really lucky) to myself. The kiddos are doing well, Waylon now has FIVE teeth and is such a monster! He gets into pretty much everything and definately keeps us on our toys. Sheridan is singing songs (including the alphabet) and is starting (very slowly) to enjoy playing with her brother. Oh, my time is up :-) some pics are below...

A Man on the Move

This is the first time Sheridan has done this...so glad I captured it on video while filming our man Waylon on the move!

Shockey Xmas and Cookie Making

We celebrated the Shockey Christmas tonight! Sheridan always loves to get together with her cousins, it has really been in the last couple months that she has started to actually play with them...for a little while anyways. It was nice to have a good meal and of course to watch the kids get so excited to open presents - this was Waylon's first gift opening and like all kids he, of course loved it too. We made cookies at grandma's house a couple weekends ago, Sheridan really enjoyed frosting (and eating) all the varieties. Jon and I are both off work this week so it will be fun to spend some quality time with kiddos in preparation for Christmas - less than a week away!

I LOVE this time of year!

Love, Love, Love the holidays! Love it even more this year as Sheridan really gets whats going on....except for the fact that she thinks Santa is coming tomorrow every day. We got out all of the Christmas decorations today and Sheridan really enjoyed hanging ornaments on the tree, can't wait to start filling the bottom with presents. We also went to see Santa today, Sheridan was a little timid but sat on his lap and told him exactly what she wanted (a ladybug). Waylon was pretty receptive as usual, he is getting his second tooth already! Less than one month until Christmas and I can't wait! Thanksgiving was fabulous, it was so wonderful to have everyone together!

Busy, Busy, Busy

Ok, so my blog post just deleted...urgh! So, this will probably be shorter than originally intended. Life has been busy, we seem to have something going on every weekend and if nothing is scheduled we are out trying to enjoy this gorgeous weather. The kids are good, Waylon has his first tooth! A bottom middle one and he seems to be teething pretty hard core so I wouldn't be surprised if another one popped up soon. He is eating cereal and just tried squash and loved it. Tomorrow is sweet potato and then applesauce. He is giggling and babbling and is even rocking on his hands and knees, I wouldn't be surprised if he is crawling by Christmas. Sheridan is sassy as ever, but is still so sweet. It is fun to watch her play as she often imitates or recreates things that she sees us do or say....another reason to watch what we say. We took her to see Go Dog Go at the Rose theater and she hasn't stopped talking about it since. She is carrying on regular conversations now - with us and with her dolls :-)

Below are pics and a video.

Big Baptized Boy

Waylon was baptized today, he was SO good all day long. He, of course, looked adorable and it was so nice to have family over (it seems like it has been forever). I'm so looking forward to the upcoming holidays, it is so fun to see everyone on a more regular basis and Sheridan has really shown a new interest in playing with her cousins!

Waylon recently had his 2 month check-up, he now weighs 14 lbs, 12 oz and is 26 1/4 inches long - he's in the 84% for height. He is HUGE and growing everyday, he is 4 months old and is actually wearing some 6-9 months clothes and we are moving him up to size 3 diapers! We also recently introduced cereal, which he hasn't really taken a liking to yet but we'll see.

We took Sheridan to see Pinkalicious at the Rose theater this month, she was mesmerized and it was fun to get "pinked out" for the performance. We also celebrate the end of the "diapee" today. We have been so proud of Sheridan for successfully letting go of this security blanket - we HAD to celebrate today. I can't believe how big both of my babies are getting, time definately flies by. Below are some pics.

Having lots of fun lately

Seems we have been very busy lately, Sheridan is at that age where she has lots of fun going to new places and doing new things. Our list over the past month or so has included Millard Days (riding rides), Labor Day parade (she loves parades and the candy too), the Zoo followed by ice cream at Zesto's (a regular favorite), Meeting the hungry caterpillar at the library, the Applejack festival (face painting, a bouncy house and parade - who could ask for more?!?) and finally meeting our new nephew and cousin Declan Shockey. This weekend is Pinkalicious, a play at the Rose Theater - so looking forward to it!

Waylon is HUGE! We go on Monday for his 4 month checkup and I wouldn't be surprised if he is 16 or 17 pounds already. He is so advanced....sitting up, rolling over, reaching for toys and grabbing, smiling and laughing. Such a sweet baby boy. Below are some pics of our adventures.

Laughs and Fanciness

Sheridan: Has a new obsession with "Fancy Nancy". A popular book that talks about how to be fancy with accessories, bows, skirts and more. Tonight first she dressed up Jon in fancy attire (he took it off before I could snap and picture) and then decided to get fancy herself. Too cute. She is talking non-stop these days, I need to pull out the video camera and capture some of her rambling because it cracks me up.

Waylon: Is laughing....of course not as much when I turn on the camera, but I did capture some good coo's and smiles. He has rolled over from tummy to back a few times and now is starting to figure out how to go from back to tummy. He is super strong, sitting up and is pretty much a happy go lucky baby boy.

Big Boy, Big Girl

Waylon recenly turned 2 months old and is growing like crazy! Already 12 lbs, 14 oz. (Sheridan was 12 lbs, 4 oz. at 4 months!) He is quite a different baby - he is laughing, smiling, cooing, has already rolled over twice and is moving all over the place. He sleeps 8-9 hrs at a time at night and is generally a really good baby. Sheridan is the BEST big sister, she always talks about "baby Waylon".

Life is good...
